Hunting for the Northern Lights near Yakutsk
We named this tour “Hunting for the Northern Lights”, as there is an element of luck involved. There is always a certain risk of not seeing it even with a favorable forecast for the Northern Lights.
We constantly monitor the Earth’s magnetic fluctuations caused by solar activity. There are many websites where one can forecast the appearance of the aurora. We also keep an eye on the cloud cover forecast, as it greatly affects how we will see the aurora or if it will be completely obscured by clouds.
If everything aligns, we spread our announcement across all our online networks. Announcements can appear a day in advance (which is very good) or on the day of departure. After that, we start compiling a list of those interested in going. There have been times when activity changed suddenly, and we had to cancel the tour. Each time, the locations vary.
Sometimes we travel over a hundred kilometers from Yakutsk, depending on the cloud cover. We depart from the bus station at 05:00 PM or 6:00 PM (the parking lot is behind the Lavka Khudozhnika Store).
Participation cost: adults - 1,700 RUB, children under 14 years - 1,500 RUB.
After arriving in the city, the bus makes a loop through the streets of Popova, Khabarova, Lenina, Petrovskogo, and Lermontova.
The exact route of the bus after arrival in the city is determined on the day of the tour, depending on which direction from the city we will go.
