Tas Kystabyt – the Kisilyakh of Oymyakon
The Kisilyakh of Oymyakon is the most accessible Kisilyakh of our republic, which is not inferior to others, including the popular Verkhoyansk Kisilyakh.
The Kisilyakh is located on a mountain ridge near the mouth of the Nera River, a right tributary of the Indigirka River. Unlike others, the Oymyakon Kisilyakh, located on high rocky mountains, are attractive for their unique landscapes.

Tas Kystabyt in Yakut means “the land where the rocks are stacked”. Another interpretation is “the land where the rocks winter”.

In 2012, when we started doing tours there, we gave the names for the sake of convenience - South Kisilyah and North Kisilyah.

South Kisilyakh is located on the southern mountains from the village of Ust Nera, and North Kisilyakh in the north beyond the right tributary of the Indigirka - the Nera River.
You can reach Kisilyakh by the Kolyma Federal Highway.
